Thure de Thulstrup, "Battle of Gettysburg"
The American Civil War was a conflict fought in the United States of America between 1861 and 1865. The belligerents were the northern states (called the Union) and southern states (called the Confederacy). The principal issue of the war was the extension of slavery into the western states. The Union opposed this. The Union won the war, at great cost to the Confedrate States. Highlights of the conflict include the Emancipation Proclamation, the Battle of Gettysburg, and the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.
