Slovak Tokaj

Slovak Tokaj is a region in Eastern Slovakia, near the Hungarian Tokaj region.

An agreement signed in June 2004 ended a conflict between Hungary and Slovakia, allowing winemakers on 907 hectares in seven Slovak villages to manufacture Tokaj wine following the same quality standards issued by Hungary in 1990.

Villages throughout the Tokaj include:

• 🌍 Čerhov.  
• 🌍 Veľká Tŕňa.  
• 🌍 Malá Tŕňa.  
• 🌍 Slovenské Nové Mesto. The village was founded in 1918; it used to be a district of Sátoraljaújhely.  
• 🌍 Bara.  
• 🌍 Černochov.  
• 🌍 Viničky.  

There are two train stations on the line between Košice and Čierna nad Tisou, with a train in each directions every 2 hours. Trains from Budapest and Miskolc terminate in Sátoraljaújhely.
