Inherited from Prakrit 𑀭𑀳𑀇 (rahaï), from Sanskrit *रहति (*rahati), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *ráźʰati (to remain, stay). Related to the attested Sanskrit रहस् (rahas, isolation).[1] Compare Hindi रहना (rahnā).
