Qing-era Mandarin transliteration of Manchu ᠵᠠᡳᠰᠠᠩ (jaisang), from Classical Mongolian ᠵᠠᠶᠢᠰᠠᠩ (ǰayisang) and Written Oirat ᠴᠠᠶᡅᠰᠠᡊ (zaᠶisang), themselves from Mandarin 宰相 (zǎixiàng, grand chancellor).
