Etymology
By surface analysis, Ancient Greek θήρᾱ (thḗrā, “hunting, a hunt or chase”) + Ancient Greek φώς (phṓs, “man”) + -a f. Compare English huntsman. Coined by Swedish arachnologist Tamerlan Thorell in 1870.
