    Borrowed from Arabic فِرْعَوْن (firʕawn), possibly borrowed from Classical Syriac ܦܹܪܥܘܼܢ, borrowed from Koine Greek Φαραών (Pharaṓn), borrowed from Biblical Hebrew פַּרְעֹה, borrowed from Egyptian pr-ꜥꜣ, from pr + ꜥꜣ. The sense "bad person" may originate from the Qur'an.
