Etymology

From mwa (to drink) +‎ -eska (causative suffix for monosyllabic verbs). Cognate with Chichewa -mwetsa (to cause to drink) and Yao -mwesya (to cause to drink). Also a cognate with Swahili -nywesha (to cause to drink) which comes from the main Proto-Bantu stem.
