Yao
Etymology
From -mwa (“to drink”) + -esya (“causative suffix”). Cognate with Tumbuka -mweska (“to cause to drink”) and Chichewa -mwetsa (“to cause to drink”). Also cognates with Swahili -nywesha (“to cause to drink”) which comes from the main Proto-Bantu stem.
