Yxlan, a long island in the Stockholm Archipelago, offers a scenic and peaceful walking experience. The island is known for its coastal views, historic villages, and lush forests. The walk combines 🌍 narrow forest trails with stretches of 🌍 gravel roads, offering a varied and scenic route.
Some highlights of the walk:
- 🌍 Northern Köpmanholmen small open area at the north maybe possible to camp on
- 🌍 Köpmanholm's local shop small grocery shop at the ferry stop
- 🌍 Sea Träsket
- 🌍 Hamnviken bathing area
- 🌍 A lot nice places to rest
- 🌍 Yxlans lighthouse lighthouse at the end of the trail also a place possible to camp at
- 🌍 labyrinth on Kasberget the name of the place "Vårdkaseberget" is referingen to "vårdkase" which was historically a fire used as a beacon fire in an optical signaling system. The system consisted of wooden spires placed on a height within sight of the next beacon.
Challenge
One of the challenges of walking this part of the trail is coordinating with the bus schedule, which makes trip planning complicated.

- by Ferry: Summer ferries connect Yxlan with Stockholm via Vaxholm to 🌍 Yxlö ferry stop
