Borrowed from Javanese lebaran (“Eid al-Fitr”, literally “completion”), from lebar (“finish, complete, after”) +‎ -an. Semantic loan from Arabic عِيد (ʕīd, “feast, holiday, festival”) for the "holiday" sense.
